Shake It Like A Polaroid Picture…

Words to a song that will, one day, have to be explained to a younger generation: “What does it mean Grandma?” “Well, back when I was a kid, one could take a picture using what was called a Polaroid.  The instant photo would spit out of the camera and while developing before your very eyes you would have to shake it back and forth to allow it to air dry.” “What megapixel was the camera Grandma?” Wha…? I have an odd way []

A Night With Bob (aka Things To Do While Stoned On A Friday)

Be prepared, this is an all too long blog by a half-stoned and irritable woman who has been injured by the vermin who commute with her… I have blogged enough about my distaste for my fellow commuters that you, my dear reader, should now realize the full scale of my irritation towards them. On Thursday evening I was making my way home from my regular 9-5.  It had started to rain and I parted ways with my friend Melissa.  I hopped the []

2008-11-11 Irish Famine Memorial

On November 11th I was able to check another item off of my bucket list.  The Irish Famine Memorial.  I had seen it in the movie P.S. I Love You.  There was a scene between Hilary Swank and Harry Connick, Jr. where they are standing in this beautiful expanse of space and they are eating corned beef sandwiches.  Connick eludes to the fact that it is a little morbid for them to be eating at a Famine Memorial and Swank answers that []

Top Ten YouTube Videos

So I am going to blame this blog on my good friend Erin who sent me my latest “happy spot”. Those of you who know me, know that I have certain videos that I pull up on particularly bad days to make me think of something else. Kind of like Peter Pan and the Happy Spot when I need to relearn how to fly. Most will associate my happy spot with Amp’d Mobile Busted. The happy spot sent by Erin is number []

My Day

My day today started with my accidentally picking up the air freshener instead of the hairspray.  Currently, my hair is fresh and smells like a tropical breeze.  I thought to myself, is this going to be indicative of the rest of the day?  Surely not. I boarded the train late.  I hopped onto the Flatbush Avenue train thinking that it was too damned cold to wait the eight minutes for the Penn Station Express.  After all, I would only have to hop []

Ponderance

Just a quick thought… In looking at my stats there are two things to note: 1. My blog “There is only room for one bawl baby in the family.” has the highest number of hits. The blog contains my thoughts on the movie, ‘The Outsiders’. I find it interesting that, with as many tags as I have, that is the highest hit blog of mine. It makes me want to run a test of some sort. What sort, I do not know. []

TV: M…i…c…k…e…y M…o…u…s…e!

Today Mickey turned 80! And in honor of his birthday, I will now post my Top Ten Favorite Disney Movies: 1. Song of the South. For those of you younger than me, this movie was amazing back in the day. Released in 1946, this feature allowed animation and “real life characters” to coexist on the same screen. That was a full 42 years before the release of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. This classic gave us such great songs as “Zip-A-Dee-Do-Da”. The tagline []

It doesn’t WANT to stay in…

This morning on my commute (yes, another commute story) I had to endure 47 minutes of conversation between four rude Young Republicans who talked loudly the entire train ride.  Three quarters of that conversation involved pizza.  The best place to get it, the best toppings, the best crust and the occasional story involving pizza (‘…there was this one time when we were eating that kind of pizza that the waitress slipped…’).  The other quarter of the conversation involved Keanu Reeves.  Is he []

…with the fishes

My daughter, son and parents put together a great birthday outing for me. I was able to dive with the sharks at Atlantis Marine World Aquarium in Riverhead, NY. Amanda put a lot of thought and work into it, she knew that this is something that has been on my bucket list for years. I could not have asked for a better day. Not only did I get lowered into a tank of sharks where I was mere inches from these massive []

Music: Top Ten Albums To Have If Marooned

My good friend, John posed the question, ‘If you were marooned on a desert island what (x) albums would you want to have with you?’. I agree with him that it is a question that is irksome given the number of albums there are out there in music-land. However, I will give it a shot (in no particular order). 1. Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles. The numbers are low for albums for which I can sing along to every []
