Service Saturday (a few hours early as I will be traveling on Saturday).
My Dad was a mechanic in the Air Force. The plane he attended to was the F101B Voodoo. This McDonnell Aircraft was a supersonic jet fighter. The first one took its first flight on 29 Sep 1954 and was then introduced into the Air Force fleet around 1972. The Voodoo was upgraded from a bomber escort to a nuclear-armed fighter bomber for Tactical Air Command.
I am working on a request to the Air Force to see if there is any way possible to find the actual plane that Dad was responsible for. If you have any suggestions on how I can find this out, I would be grateful to hear your advice.
I found a couple interesting videos on the plane:
I remember seeing the Guard fly theses ove my home in Mt. Lookout.
Theu sound amazing! I would have loved that.
It was early 70s I think. They did sonic booms over the farm. I loved it but the cattle wasn’t to happy with it.
