The Need More Saloon (Pax, WV). Fayette County ties to the Family Of Devil Anse Hatfield

I read this morning that some of Devil Anse Hatfield’s sons (back in the day) owned businesses in the Fayette County, West Virginia area. That set me to researching what I could find. What a funny treasure I came across.

The business that stands out to me is the Need More Saloon located in the area of Pax, WV and close to the Fayette / Raleigh county line. My favorite historian (Shirley Donnelly) had a few columns on the establishment and I found a couple pictures on the WVU history site.

It appears the business was lost to a fire and the Hatfields opened a new saloon in another location. It is said that the fire was no accident.

I have included what I found in this blog. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!
